To create a report (or report) in BI Publisher, the first thing we must create is our Data Model (Datamodel – DM) since the report will be based on this data, for this we will select from the menu: New -> Data Model
Once inside the DM edition, we select the data source.
We can use the “Query Builder” or directly write the SQL statement
It is not uncommon for a DM to include lists of values and/or parameters
Parameters can even be based on a Value List.
Once the DM is finished, we can create our Report, select from the menu: New -> Report; here we can select the way in which we are going to generate the Report: with a Wizard or editing it ourselves, in this case we will select “Use Report Editor”; We select the data model:
and press the Finish button
Already within the edition of the Report, this will depend on the requirement we have, we can include Text, Tables, Graphs, Etc.
We can configure the options of the parameters that we have included, such as: show them or not, or the location of the parameter label, among other things
If we need to modify/view the data model we are using in our Report, we can access it directly from the same report
here it is important that we know that if we make any modifications to the DM, we must reload it in the report so that these changes made are updated and we can use them in the report (new columns, new data sources, etc.)
There is an option of the DM that is the Bursting (or Rapartition for Spanish versions) that once configured in the DM, we must tell the report to activate it on the screen: Report properties
