Profiles are assigned to individual accounts or mailboxes on a server. For example, support@siebel.com or info@siebel.com are valid accounts that can be assigned to a profile.
Since you can use the same controller for different profiles, you must create a unique profile to differentiate each of the individual accounts on a server. For example, support@siebel.com or info@siebel.com must have different profiles. Always name the profiles with the name of the email account for easy identification.
To create a new communications profile it is necessary to first create a Communications Driver Profile, for this we will follow the following steps:
1. Navega a Administration – Communications -> Communications Drivers and Profiles.
2. In the Communications Drivers list, select the “Internet SMTP/POP3 Server” driver.
3. Click on the “Profiles” tab, and in the Profiles list, click on “New”.
to. Create a new Profile. for example “Test Email Profile”.
4. In the Overrides Profile Parameter applet, add the following parameters:
==> From Address : Any email address (usually the Siebel Email mailbox ID)
==> SMTP Server: Name of the SMTP Server that will send the email.
==> SMTP Server Port : 25
5. Click the “Menu” button in the “Profiles” applet and click “Submit Profile Changes”.
At this point, this communication profile is ready to be used. But first it will be necessary to verify that the server components responsible for executing the email request are configured and running correctly.
So, we continue……
6. Navega a Administration – Server Configuration -> Enterprises
to. Select the “Component Groups” tab and in the applet query for “Communications Management”.
b. In the “Components” applet query for “Communications Outbound Manager”. This is the component responsible for sending emails from Siebel.
c. Verify that in the applet on your right “Component Group Assignments” the option “Enabled on Server” is enabled. Otherwise, click on the “Enable” button.
8. In the “Component Definitions” applet click the “Synchronize” button.
9. Restart the Siebel Server service.
10. Navigate to Tools -> User Preferences -> Outbound Communications and select “Siebel Email Client” in the Email Client. Click on Save.
That’s it!!! Hopefully it will work well. Let’s try it.
Go to the Service Request -> My Service Request screen, click on F9 and the system will open a pop-up applet to send an email. Put your email address in “To”, fill in the subject and body and send it.
Optimizing Communications Driver Profile Parameters
When assigning parameter overrides parameters for a communication profile, we recommend that you add the following parameter:
PollingInterval = 120 (default is 30 seconds)
In this way we increase the sending time interval between emails. You ensure that all emails on the POP3 Proxy Server are sent successfully regardless of their size.
