VTiger Administration. Changing a user's username

Published on 1 min read

When we create a new user in VTiger, the Username field (which must contain a valid email address) will be the user name that the application asks for when we log in.

This field becomes read-only, and not even with administrator privileges can we change it. Therefore, before creating a user, we must pay special attention to this field and enter the correct email address, because we will not be able to change it afterwards.

When we edit a user record, we can modify/update, among others, the following fields:

  • Email.
  • First Name.
  • Last Name, etc.

But the "Username" field disappears from the view.

However, there is a workaround for a problem like this, and it is as follows:

  1. Log in as the Administrator user, go to: Settings icon > Manage Users and create a new user with the correct new email (Username).
  2. Delete the old user (the one with the wrong username) and transfer the ownership of its entities to this new user; you can find more information about deleting users in the next entry.
